Sr. Director/Executive Director/Vice President, Business Development - San Diego, California at CS Genetics

CS Genetics is looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to drive business development activities in support of efforts to commercialize our first single cell genomics products.  The role will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will oversee identification, development, and growth of new strategic partnership opportunities and new revenue sources for CS Genetics.  Based in San Diego, CA the Senior Director, Executive Director or Vice President, Business Development will be a member of the senior leadership team, and collaborate closely with Executive, Commercial, Operations, and R&D leadership to set and execute company strategy, goals, and objectives.




  • Apply market research and account management skills to develop and nuture a partnership pipeline aligned with company strategic objectives
  • Developing partner engagement strategy, business case development and long-term value modeling of potential partnership opportunities
  • Drafting and negotiating new partnership term sheets and master service level agreements
  • Working closely with C-suite and Commercial leadership to close deals
  • Designing and delivering presentations to all levels of potential partner organizations
  • Building relationships with partners across all key constituents
  • Supporting the onboarding of new partners and working closely with R&D, Operations, Legal, and Commercial teams to transition responsibilities accordingly
  • Maintaining open and formal communication with CS Genetics management regarding market conditions, competitive dynamics, and partners’ evolving business requirements
  • Representing CS Genetics at trade association meetings, conferences, and other networking opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining strong knowledge of the workflow ecosystem of genomics life science companies and the unique needs of pharma and cell and gene therapy providers
  • Other duties as required




  • B.S. in the life sciences or engineering and or MBA with 5+ years (Sr. Director), 7+ years experience (Exec. Director) or 10+ years (Vice President) of Business Development experience in genomics or life science tools, preferably with at least 5 years of leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of genomics, life science tools technologies and the associated industry ecosystem
  • Deep industry knowledge and an extensive network of industry contacts in genomics, life science tools and pharma, cell and gene therapy is highly preferred
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize growth opportunities
  • Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve objectives
  • Results-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed revenue targets
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment and make data-driven decisions
  • Willingness to travel as required to establish and maintain business relationships
